Terms of Service

These terms describe how hoply, a service of ModernRecs LLC, works today. They are a plain-language placeholder, not a finished legal document: a lawyer has not yet reviewed this page, and the wording here will change before it is final.

What hoply is

hoply is a curated weekly recommendation service. Free members get a limited set of picks each week. Members who subscribe to curation get the full weekly shortlist, matched to what they told us they like, for the price shown at checkout. New subscriptions start with a free trial, and you can cancel any time before or during the trial and not be charged.

Free tier

You do not need a paid subscription to use hoply. A free account can search, save events, make plans, and share with friends. Curation (the full personalized weekly shortlist) is the part that requires a subscription.

Canceling your subscription

You can cancel your curation subscription at any time from your account settings. Canceling stops future charges; it does not retroactively refund a period you have already paid for unless we say otherwise when you cancel. Your account itself is not deleted when you cancel a subscription, only downgraded to the free tier.

SMS Terms

If you add a phone number and agree to texts, hoply sends you account texts: sign-in codes and account notices, never marketing. Agreeing to texts is not a condition of any purchase. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to opt out, START to opt back in, or HELP for help. You can also turn texts off in your account settings, and your codes then come by email. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Community rules

hoply is for finding things to do with people you like. You may not post or send anything that harasses, bullies or threatens someone, that attacks people for who they are, that is sexually explicit, that is spam or a scam, or that pretends to be someone else. We have zero tolerance for this, and it applies to messages, plans, names, photos and anything else you add.

If you see something that breaks these rules, press and hold the message, or open the menu on a person, a plan or a chat, and choose Report. You can also Block anyone. They can no longer message you, invite you or find you, you stop seeing them, and they are not told. We review reports within 24 hours. When something breaks these rules we remove it, and we suspend or close the account of whoever posted it.

Ending your account

You can close your account at any time. We can also suspend or terminate an account that misuses the service, for example by abusing other members, scraping the site, or attempting to defeat our permission-based approach to venue and event data.

Accuracy of listings

hoply pulls venue and event information from the sources we track and, for some listings, from what a business tells us directly. Hours, prices, and event details change on short notice and we cannot guarantee that every listing is current or accurate. Confirm anything time-sensitive with the venue directly before you go.

We may update these terms as hoply changes. We will post the current version here.
